Out of interest when did you last have one? I moved from Incap Ben to ESA in 2011 then had to have an appeal ( super session) to get into support group due to deterioration in condition. I was put in SG in 2013 and haven't been contacted since. Like many I was subject to a 2 year delay in 2015 when I was due for review. Nationally there were lots of backlogs. I was due again in 2017 and think I just missed the cut off period when they started reviewing existing cases again. There were/are huge backlogs of new claims let alone reviews of existing claims. 2019 came and went and again, when I called them they told me it had been put back to 2021 I think May or June. I know lots of members on here seem to have been subject to these delays yet others haven't and have had several reviews during this time. I had raised the question with Gordon on here as to whether he thought the DWP were cherry picking cases, but there was no definitive answer. Again, it could be that in the case of some claimants the DWP believe it is a waste of time and or resources to give them an ESA medical review and perhaps a year or so later need to contact them again to migrate to U/C where we understand, so far, that a further medical assessment would then be needed. In other words why waste money to go through the process twice in a given period of time. I have wondered if some cherry picking was happening where by they were pressing ahead with cases they ( DWP) thought they could be successful in failing the claimant, if for eg, that claimant had just scraped through last time? Again, just a thought and my own opinion. Mainly it seems those in SG are the one's largely being left alone perhaps (imo)as they would likely pass the medical review and have to remain in ESA and then be given another medical for U/C not too far down the line whereas those failing a medical would be put straight onto U/C in a job seekers capacity and not bother to appeal. either way I'll be interested to see if my long awaited date with destiny comes this summer......Keep me posted please as I would be interested to hear the outcome in your case

Hi Anees

Sorry, but we can't give you any sort of answer. The DWP are working with a backlog, so it could be any time.

Hi Anees

ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment based on the Prognosis Date completed by the assessor in their report, so your existing ESA award continues in payment until a new Decision is made.

I applied 2017 as always they refused and then was in appeal and respected judge see me and asked three question only and granted SG in just 2 minutes, he state do no call me next 24 months for any assessments. Now in coming march I have 24 months so need to ask when can be reassess but good to hear if DWP not contacting me next 24 years.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the information you gave to Anees, i had assessment and was refused (even though i was in the exact same situation in the assessment prior to that and got the necessary 15 points needed) had to go to tribunal court asked 2 questions and went in my favour for WAG. I was also told not to reassess until 24 months, that time period ended last August 2020 and i have heard nothing. Honestly i am too scared to call and find out, i am currently under the care of a spinal consultant who is deciding if i need further spinal surgery this time in my neck, he has ct and mri scan just waiting to see what he says and in a world of COVID i have no idea what will happen. Since Aug 2020 my health has deteriorated but i want/need the proof before i send anything else in as i feel i will i need to be in the SG.
Thanks again.
Tracy
