Reaching Pension age. was created by ravenmoonstone
I am very confused and wondered if someone can help?
I have received a letter to inform me of benifit changes due to me becoming 66 in June. Firstly it going up from April then down in June of over £100. Do I claim any pension? If so what forms do I need and when do I apply? Also I received a letter to extend my PIP payments to May 2023. does this mean that I will still be able to claim PIP after that day(abeit filling in another form) as I use a Motability car. Will it all stop then and me be without the car to get around?

Hello ravenmoonstone,

According to this site

www.gov.uk/new-state-pension/how-to-claim

you do have to claim your pension. Hopefully that link will tell you all you need.

If you are in receipt of PIP prior to reaching state retirement age, you can continue receiving it - subject to reviews. If you have a lose it for more than year then you will no longer be able to claim it, but will be able to apply for Attendence Allowance.

Hope you have a wonderful retirement when it comes!

Hi ravenmoonstone

We do not have enough information to give you accurate information.

Depending on your circumstances, if you are in receipt of ESA then it will stop when you reach State Pension age along with any premiums you may receive.

You may be able to apply for Pension Credits as a top up to your State Pension, this is means tested so it would depend on your circumstances.

www.gov.uk/pension-credit

As Catherine has stated your PIP will not change, when you are next assessed you should get a light touch review as you will be over SP age.
