I am Benefits Advisor at CAB and I am now coming accross delays in New Style Contribution based ESA Work Capability Assessments due to Covid lockdown
Clients awards are running out after a year before completion of their WCA by external assessor
1. Due to external assessor need to wait carry out Face to face asessment on advice of GP 2. After telephone assessment external assessor neede to do face to face assessment
after contacting local JC got following response
I have been advised that the issue with face-to-face work capability assessments is one that DWP is still considering and that there is no resolution as yet.
In the specific case of Mr xxxxx, CHDA advised me that a face-to-face assessment was required as he had been unable to supply sufficient information during his telephone assessment. If Mr Green has further evidence that he can supply, he can submit this by post to: CHDA
I am not aware of any magic bullet, to try and quicken the process you may want to get your clients MP involved. I have come across quite a few members on this forum in the same situation and have given them the same advice, to date I am not aware of any feedback from our members.
You should also copy in Thérèse Coffey Secretary of State for Works and Pensions as this is an issue we come across frequently on this forum.
