SDP Ban On Moving To UC Lifted - Questions was created by KeithW
I have heard on the news that a ban on people who claim ‘severe disability premiums’ (SDP) moving to Universal Credit has now been lifted.
And also that the DWP will again start moving people who receive SDP onto UC
Is this correct?
Also as I live in Scotland what are the specific rules there? I am aware that there are some differences.
For reference I am in receipt of ESA (support group) and receive the SDP

Hi Gary,
Many thanks for your reply, much appreciated.
Toward the end of last year the benefits and work site did some webinars and one the guys presenting it was actually a benefits adviser in Glasgow, Scotland.
I was wondering if you would be able to get hold of the contact details for him and the organisation he works for for?
It is just they would be local to me and if Benefits and Work are using them to present there webinars then they would be a good source of help for me.
Cheers,
Keith

Hi KeithW
I am not aware of the webinar, I have had a quick search through the website but no joy, you may want to email B&W at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information, I did attend a webinar last year but the trainer I believe was based in London, he also did one this week, PIP and mental health.

Just after a little bit more clarification on this if I may.
So if I were to move to a different local authority area I would then have to claim UC?
If I move within the same local authority area then I would not have to claim UC?
Also if moved onto UC are there now payments in place to make sure you do not miss out financially, such as for SDP?
