DWP request sick note on Support Group was created by reiver97
A friend on ESA support group has received a letter from the DWP asking for her to send in a sick note. Is this usual? Her last assessment was Feb 2019.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Well, that is a new one on me reiver97. I can only guess that it is a sort of light touch ESA review, perhaps because of Covid, to check that her condition is ongoing.
I will be interested to see if others have experienced this.

That is what I suspected, and hope to be the case.
The letter they sent had a form to return with a very small box headed "I consider myself unfit for work but cannot provide a medical certificate for the following reasons:".
I have advised her to write "There has been no change in my health condition since my last assessment. I receive the same treatment and medication as when I was originally placed into the support group".
That is as much as can be written in the box.
FWIW At the same time she got this letter, she also got a letter extending her PIP until 2025.

That sounds like a good response reiver97.
Is this a new policy for the DWP - to make sure they always send out good news along with something concerning? *off to dream.....*
