Moving home while on ESA was created by Provi2015
Hello,
I currently get Income related ESA, and I am in the Limited Capability to work Support Group.
I also get the Severe disability premium and Enhanced disability premium.
I am about to move to a council property from private rented in the same town and under the same council.
I need to tell ESA of the change of circumstances in the move and I am worried that I will have to go onto Universal Credit.
As I am moving within the same town and the same Council will I be forced onto Universal Credit?
Will I then lose my Severe disability premium and Enhanced disability premiums?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi Providence
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work .
If you move within the same Local Authority and you claim HB even for private accomodation then you will not go on to UC, you just need to contact ESA and the LA and inform them of a change of address, you may need to complete a new HB form.
If you have not claimed HB before and you need to claim HB when you move then unfortunately you will have to claim UC to get the housing element, rules changed on the 27th January 2021.
You may want to speak to your local welfare rights worker who can take into account all your circumstances.

Hello Stephen,
If you click on the blue 'Welcome to Benefits and Work' in Gary's reply it will take you to the FAQ's. Having done that, if you scroll down a little you will find all sorts.
