ESA telephone assessment was created by Martin
Hello everyone. Not been on this site for years and don't think I've ever posted either?

I received a Health Assessment Advisory Service letter last week telling me I have a telephone assessment today. I've just had it and I'm rather worried! I didn't realise it was for ESA, because a PIP letter came on the same day telling me my PIP award has been extended until 2023.

So the person I spoke to didn't know my ESA stopped in December 2019, due to me starting work then. She then said I could still apply? I told her again about work. I did mention my PIP award but she said that's nothing to do with her. Foolishly I chose to answer her questions instead of declining to re-apply. She said she would ring back.

I suffer from both Bipolar and ADHD and I was getting more and more worried and anxious about the call so decided to record the conversation. I told her about me recording the call near the end and she said she would talk to a colleague. She said as I had made a recording, and that isn't allowed, she was going to stop the interview and I could reschedule another call. I declined.

I lost my ESA when I started working and know I won't get again! My mental health is still the same, if not worse. What will happen now concerning my PIP award?

Thanks in advance

Martin

Hi Laney

Sorry to hear about your plight, as the assessor pointed out, PIP should not be affected.

You could put in a complaint to find out why you received an ESA assessment when your claim stopped in December 2019 or you can do nothing.

You can work and still claim PIP, so you have not done anything wrong. PIP should remain in payment but just keep an eye on your payments just in case.

Come back to the forum if you have any issues.
