Hi
I’m going for pip MR spoke with them on the phone this morning and can you clarify something for me please
DWP say that you can’t get points for reminding or prompting with nutrition unless you are under a dietitian?? My issue is with my AS chronic pain fatigue depression it all has an effect on my memory ... yet dwp say because no diagnosis there is no issue ?? Also only 2 for assistance in bath
They gave me standard rate but I thought I would have got high daily living so I will MR see what they say

Hello Sunshine99

The legislation i.e. the law does not say that you have to be under a dietitian, and that is important. If you are preparing your MR submission I would include that in it. My guess is that if you are under a dietitian it is easy for them to see that you might need prompting, so without that you have the uphill struggle of evidencing the problems you have.

I really do sympathize with you, trying to prove a need without a formal diagnosis is not easy in this world. Without evidence I am afraid they have a tendency to assume that what you are saying is at best an exaggeration. It may appear obvious to most of us that the conditions you list are going to affect most areas of your life, but that obviousness does not seem to apply to the PIP assessment process.

I would suggest you complete a diary, showing how your conditions affect you. You find a template about a third of the way down this page

PIP resources

Get supporting letters from everyone you can think of who have been involved with you and witnessed the issues you have. Family are useful, but obviously independent professionals are even better. Go for both!

And have a look at the guides on the same page as the link above. They are full of good tips.

I wish you success.
