Hi madwoman,
Firstly, I have no idea how long the renewal take!
However, you have sent back the claim form back promptly, and presumably DWP are now considering this. Whatever happens at the deadline, if DWP agree to renew your PIP, then it will either continue as before, or if for some reason PIP finishes, if re-awarded you will get back dated payments so there will be no missing money as a result. I'm afraid it is just a waiting game. If you don’t hear anything from DWP within say amonth, chase them up, and continue to do so till there is a decision.
I apologise that I can't give an exact timescale here. Hopefully your decision will soon arrive. Good luck.

I would ring them now, if you haven’t received confirmation that your forms have been received, just to check that they have! It might take a while to get through but at least you’d have some peace of mind, and if they haven’t received them you would have time to send them again before your award ends.
