DLA and £20 uplift was created by Glamgran
What is this £20 Uplift I’ve heard about. I’m in receipt of ESA(C) and DLA but will start getting DWP Pension from next month. Will I get this ‘Uplift’? I don’t even know what it is. I am expecting my ESA(C) to end next month when I get my pension but what happens to my DLA? I keep getting letters saying that I don’t need to do anything until they tell me to apply for PIP but I’ve also read online that you can’t get DLA after 65. I am so confused. Also do I need to stop my ESA(C) or will they do this automatically when they start my paying my state pension.

Hi Glamgran

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.

Welcome to Benefits and Work .

Q1) On 20 March 2020, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced an increase in the Universal Credit standard allowance by £1,000 a year for a period of twelve months (£20 pw). He similarly announced an increase in the Working Tax Credit basic element of the same amount. Unless you are in receipt of either UC or WTC then you would not have receive the uplift.

Q2) Your DLA will stay in payment until you are asked to be re-assess for PIP. When you get this letter do not ignore it but contact DWP. We do have some very good guides to help you complete the PIP application form: www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip You can get DLA after the age of 65 if you are already in receipt of DLA, what you cannot do as a new claimant is apply for DLA/PIP after state pension age.

Q3) Your CB ESA will stop automatically when you receive your state pension, you do not have to do anything.
