Moving from England to Scotland ESA & PIP was created by Valerie
Hello all, I'm in receipt of Contributory ESA (basic rate plus Disability Premium) and PIP (Daily Living Component (lower rate), and live in England. I want to move to Scotland but am concerned about how this will affect my benefits, especially as I have just been re-awarded PIP for 4 years after going through the review process. Will I have to start from scratch, or are both transferable so all I'd need to do is inform ESA & PIP of my new address? Thanks in advance for any advice about this.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work .
As you are not in receipt of a means tested benefit, then your CB ESA and PIP should not affected.
You should tell the DWP about a change of address within 1 month of it happening, unless you have a good reason - for example if you:
~ are in hospital
~ are coping with a bereavement
~ have a family emergency
If you have a good reason to tell the DWP late, you have up to 13 months to tell them.
We have recently heard from members on the forum about issues with benefit payments being stopped as they had not notified DWP of a change of address, it was easily rectified when they contacted DWP to see why their payments had stopped.
You may want to contact mygov.scot to get a full breakdown of any benefit entitlement www.mygov.scot/benefits-support
