PIP Claim Coming To An End - Told to Call?

Hi there, the man I look after, having been on PIP for 12 months after a first tier tribunal overhauled the DWP decision, has today received a letter informing him that his claim will come to an end in May.

The letter states "What do do if you still need PIP. If you still need PIP with your daily living or mobility needs please call us on 0800 917 2222" - Now I am most annoyed at this as the DWP should be aware that he does not have a telephone, nor does he feel comfortable using one due to issues I'd rather not go into.

I'm writing to them tonight, but I was under the impression that PIP claims had been extended?
Can anyone tell me why they haven't just sent him a form about his needs/daily life like usual?

I've had to spend a great deal of time today calming him down as yet again he feels the DWP is personally picking on him.

Thank you for any help.

Hi Alex

We have had quite a few enquiries similar to yours. One of the reason why a form has not been sent out is due to the person you look after going to a tribunal and winning. The decision letter will usually have an end date.

Some claims have been extended but the majority of Tribunal decision have not been extended although I do know some which have had extensions.

The telephone number you quoted is correct for a new claim, did you keep a copy of his old claim, if you did you can use this as a guide along with our guides.

Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a better understanding of the criteria you will need to meet.
