PIP AWARD UNTIL 2029 was created by welshes
Dear Gary and the team
I was on DLA have been transferred to pip after a medical assessment in August 2019 I am 60 in May.this year. I was awarded the enhanced rate for daily living and mobility.
the letter says they will need to contact me while i getting pip to see if my needs change this will be after 15th may 2029.
what will happen when i reach state pension age? I dont get my state pension until Iam 67 does the pip automatically stop when you reach pension age. ?

Hello Eliedee,
Well that is good news indeed.
Because you are receiving PIP before you reach State Pension Age you will continue to receive it indefinitely (assuming the law does not change), unless at a review the DWP consider that your circumstances have changed.
When they do contact you in 2029 I would urge you to seek advice, or at very least take a good look at our guides, to ensure that you represent yourself as well as possible. Once you are over State Pension Age if you lose a PIP award for more than a year then you will no longer be able to apply for it and you will have to apply for Attendance Allowance which does not have a mobility component.
Having said all of that, since they have given you a ten year award (the longest they give anyone) I think you stand a very good chance of not having any issues at all!
So, relax and enjoy the freedom your award gives you!

Hi Elliedee,
Wow, that is a great award! Well done!
PIP can continue after pension age, once you have it, and continue to have daily living/mobility problems. However, whatever mobility level award you get at pension age, is the maximum allowed. Since you have already achieved enhanced mobility this should remain. If for any reason DWP choose to make an early review, and do not continue to award mobility at enhanced rate, you would need to appeal this, to ensure that you can get this post-pension age. PIP is not means tested so won't be deducted from any state pension.
You may wish to contact the Pensions Service for a forecast to ensure that you have sufficient NI Credits, this can be done now, or within a few months. Don't leave it too late, in case there is a problem.
I hope this helps, and once again, well done on your award - it is fantastic to hear good news stories.
