ESA Advice was created by Anniesmum
Hello,

I am currently claiming ESA and I am in the Support group. I am claiming contributions based ESA. I know that the award was due to be reviewed around the 21st February 2021. Due to Covid I haven't had any forms from the ESA about my award being reviewed. I am wondering if I should ring the ESA and ask what is happening and will they be reviewing me again soon or should I not contact them and try not to rock the boat? I guess it would make me feel better if I knew they had extended it and when too but equally I may make things worse for myself if I alert them to the fact that my award needs looking at again? Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Sally

Hi SAndrew

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.

Welcome to Benefits and Work .

ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment based on the Prognosis Date completed by the assessor in their report, so your existing ESA award continues in payment until a new Decision is made.

If you are receiving legacy ESA then you can asked to be financially assessed for Income Related ESA. ESA(IR) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets. You can get ESA(IR) on top of your ESA(CB).

You can put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to check eligibility.

Once you are in receipt of a means tested benefit then you can apply for premiums such as SDP and EDP.

There is a backlog on re-assessments, if you are worried then contact DWP for peace of mind, if not do nothing until DWP contacts you, in the mean time check out our guides to give you a heads up: www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/esa1
