If I move areas, I understand I would have to switch from ESA to UC because a change of address means you can’t open a new housing benefit claim. What happens if I move to a new area but don’t want to claim anything for housing? Does the change of address on my ESA and child tax credits etc still mean I would have to switch to UC?
You question is not easy to answer as it depend on a number of other questions such as do you have a change of circumstances such as moving in with a new partner? what type of ESA are you in receipt of IR ESA or CB ESA?
You need to seek advice from your local welfare rights agency who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration.
You can find your local Welfare Rights Agency to help you by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies.advicelocal.uk
