Waiting for telephone assessment was created by Mazza50
Hi there everyone,I wonder if you can give me some advice.I have borderline personality disorder, rheumatoid arthritis and osteo arthritis, diabetes and angina.I have enhanced pip on both care and mobility.I had a review form sent to me in February,I filled it in and sent back with loads of evidence from psychiatrist, stating I am a suicidal risk, also evidence from my rheumatoid consultant. The dwp sent my case to atos on 3rd February, and I haven’t heard anything since.I am expecting a telephone assessment, but waiting for this is terrifying and immensely stressful.I have rang dwp twice to see what is happening but they say I just have to wait.In view of all the evidence I sent them I was devastated to learn they still want to assess me,should I ring atos or let sleeping dogs lie.?Waiting for this is putting so mush strain on me it’s making me ill. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

Hi Mazza50

There are two ways of assessing you at this moment in time:

1) - Telephone assessment

2) - Paper assessment

for paper assessments, There are two sets of requirements.

First, there needs to be sufficient evidence of how you meet the PIP Descriptors for an assessment report to be produced without you being contacted.

Secondly, you may be able to require a PBR if you can show that a telephone assessment will result in your suffering Overwhelming Psychological Distress but you will need medical evidence to support this.

The law requires claimants to receive seven days written notice of an assessment although this includes postage time but be aware feedback on the forum suggests that this is not always being honoured for telephone assessments.
