PIP Telephone Assessment was created by Sharon
Hello
Just wanted to share my telephone assessment, it was a nightmare from start to finish and has actually left me feeling angry hopeless, and retraumatized.
For a start she was 45 minutes late for the appointment she did ring at 3 pm my appointment time to say this so at 3.50 she rang she didn't introduce herself the only reason I know she was called Alex was from the call to remind me I had an assessment on Monday.
Some of the questions she asked which I found random were - how much did I weigh?
Do I have debts? how much are they?
Does my husband work,is he full time.
At one point I shared some really personal stuff to which she replied how would you feel if I told your Gp about this believe me this was not done in a caring way.
At one point there was a commotion in the room and I heard somoene else speak and she let out a small giggle i replied excuse me and she said oh her window was open and there was a guy delivering leaflets.
When we discussed medication and I spoke about the medication that I had tried at one point she sighed and hurridly cut me off saying that's fine.
I understand that she was running late and the assessment ran over to 5.20 but I just felt that I got
the end of the day can't be bothered fed up etc which suffering from chronic fatigue and other issues was a bloody long day for me. Certainly puts me off appealing if need be

Hello Sharon,
I am really sorry to hear about your experience – although they are clearly obliged to ask personal questions, you should not end up feeling as you did.
Hopefully you will receive the right outcome, but I would recommend you contact the DWP and request a copy of the PA4 form which is the form the assessor completes and sends to the DWP. This will tell you if she has actually recorded things correctly. Hopefully she has, but if you find there are factual errors or that she has come to unreasonable conclusions you can let the DWP know what you disagree with her opinions before the paperwork is reviewed by the Decision Maker.
I can understand you not wishing to appeal and that is a way down the road anyway, but please don’t mentally close the door to that yet.
Please do come back to us if you have any more questions.
Catherine

Hi Sharon, in simple terms, do not let the b----s grind you down. This is what the system AIMS to do!!
If you did need to put in a mandatory reconsideration [somebody's got to be the 1 in 3 now getting an improvement there], and 2 in 3 chance take it on to appeal, remember you will never have to deal with that same insensitive rude woman again in the process. And we all have your back on here.
As Catherine says, do phone for the PA4. If given any fob-off, just end the call and try again. Writing to contest the report won the day for our daughter; it was the first time we did NOT have to MR and Appeal
Best wishes, Denby

Well done, hope the call wasn't too stressful. If you are a tea/coffee drinker I recommend making a good big strong cuppa for when it comes and you sit down to read it!
And ideally have a highlighter pen or two, and [hoping you have it] copy of your original form handy. The idea is to mark in one colour everything that strikes you as wrong/twisted/something missing etc. And maybe at a second go through, anything that particularly would score you less points than the B&W Guide would indicate you should get. If there is much amiss, write ASAP to the DWP saying so, coldly, point by point, referring to your form and evidence for each point. Remember that with CFS the issues are often that you cannot do whichever thing [descriptor] 'as often as reasonably required' eg make 3 meals of some sort per day, or have a shower regularly etc. Not that you can't ever do it, but the effect of trying makes it impossible to do again soon.
Need to make sure you don't miss the MR deadline, but if you do write in first, say it is NOT an MR but you reserve the right to submit one. If you are waiting for a reply to a letter you send in, and deadline is close, you can send an MR based on your letter so not much extra effort. Guides on here tell you how.
Hope that's not totally confusing,
best,
Denby

Hi thanks for your reply .I received the pa4 the very next day after I called . Reading some of it annoyed me but if going by the boxes she has ticked I would get 8 points for daily living and 8 for mobility so unless the case manager disagrees I think I will be entitled to something. I will make comments just in case and await the decision. Fingers crossed
