Hi Sharon

Thank you for letting us know, getting your PA4 the next day is very good service, I have a claimant who has waited over two weeks and still no PA4.

Let us know how you get on, good luck.

Hi Sharon, If it is all agreed, you will get standard for daily living and standard for mobility. Some assessors are still mentioning the amount of medication you take to minimise your award, implying you can’t be that bad type of thing. However, the updated guidance for assessors issued in September 2020 indicates that this is not the case for painkillers. I saw an assessors report last week and they are still doing this. Also they compared the use of a knife and fork similar to the actions needed to wash your hair! ....

Hi, Please can I ask, should you ask for the PA4 before or after asking for a Mandatory reconsideration? I'm asking because after my telephone assessment I was only awarded 6 points and lost my PIP. I've asked for a Mandatory Reconsideration, but didn't know about the PA4. Is it too late to ask for it? Thanks!

Hi vintage1959

It's not too late to ask for a copy of the assessors report, we advise PIP claimants to request a copy of the assessors report (PA4) 48 hrs after having an assessment.

The assessors report is what the decision makers use when making a decision, they usually follow the recommendations of the assessors but not always.

Hi vintage 1959, while I'm not a mod I would suggest you are on the phone asking for it before 9am in the morning [Monday!] if at all possible. It will help you understand what went wrong where, and so to construct your challenge further.
For another time [grr!] the best time to ask for the PA4 is bang on 48 hours after the assessment happens. The assessors are supposed to upload it within this. If they leave it days before doing so it can be argued that they may have a poor recall of your answers. Anyway the sooner you get it the longer you have [next time] to write to DWP contesting every significant thing wrong with it, BEFORE the Decision Maker insults you with a downgrade decision.
Meantime have you read all about MR and Appeal in the Members' guides on here?
Sorry to hear of your ill treatment, and best wishes with getting it put right,
Denby
