PiP Extensions Due To Covid 19 was created by cantona43
Hi, I have heard that PIP awards have been extended, my award is due to run out in November this year (2021) as yet I have received no letter, I get the standard rate of daily living awarded and enhance mobility, I had to go to tribunal for the mobility part of my award as when I was moved from DLA to PiP (I had a indefinite high rate DLA mobility award) due to a convenient slip of the assessors pen I got low rate PIP mobility which was overturned by tribunal without having to appear at the hearing. Has the fact of getting the mobility side of my award from a tribunal caused me not to get a extension or because its a November end date. Also there is a chance the letter has got lost in the post but I am reluctant to ring the PIP as not wanting to trigger a early claim again.
Any help is appreciated
Regards Neil

Hi Cantona43

If your award was decided by the tribunal, and it is due to end in November this year, you will receive a letter from the DWP sometime before November asking whether you wish to put in a new claim for PIP. So you are right in thinking that you won't receive an extension. The unfairness of this has been pointed out to the DWP

If you have not heard anything from the DWP by end of August/beginning of September you would be wise to contact them yourself, so you have time to get in a form and get in processed.

It will not be extended.. Mine was a tribunal win and I asked about the extension when I phoned up for a renewal form. it is treated as a ‘new claim’. I spoke to someone who assurd me that it WOULD be extended. But to make sure I got the form back by deadline. out of the blue received an extension to my ‘return date’. Was really happy as ridiculously stressed which is making me physically ill (won’t share! ) and my MH has nosedived... Anyway, checked my esa today and my SDP has stopped... so basically my PIP has stopped. I was probably given a deadline as I am marked as ‘needing help’!! Though not enough to actually receive benefits it seems... Dispite a Disability minister statement clearly shown in Hansard which I quoted, it has been stopped. They told me they would phone me to let me know about an extension 4 weeks ago. I have not heard a thing... they are complete *********
