My latest PIP award seems to be based on the recent telephone medical and a face to face ESA medical from 2019.
The problem is the criteria I reached to get into the support group are of no use to my PIP review. The ESA doctor was great just did what was needed to get the job done. She saw I was unwell and did not do a physical exam at all other than observe I had difficulty getting up and could move my arms. On the back of this the latest award has determined all the other limitations I had after 2 strokes no longer exist! So frustrating!
I thought the medical criteria for PIP and ESA varied so I don’t think the ESA doctor would ever have expected her report to be used against me.... but that’s what has happened!
Do I challenge this? With the pandemic taking out last year completely I’ve had no face to face doctors appointments at all. I can’t get a GP appointment for 6 weeks! Too late for the MR. Any ideas?

How frustrating! You say you are too late for a MR, by which I assume you mean you have passed the one month point. However if you have a good reason for not having applied the DWP can give you up to a year. I have always found them to be sympathetic to claimants you have been too unwell or not had the support they need, particularly at the moment with covid. So, if you are within the year do contact them, and unless you have already done so, remember to ask for the assessor’s report.
