ESA payment recieved - odd! was created by Ginith
Hi
Been here for a while, but never posted. Great resource though, thank you.
I know that i could call the DWP and find out for sure but honestly cant face the wait, and the anxiety of speaking to someone. Not today anyway.
I have been getting ESA at the standard rate. Was phone assessed earlier in the month. GP just before that issued a not fit for work note covering 6 months hence. Been covered by fit notes since December.
Last friday i got my normal 2 weekly standard payment. Today however i recieved another payment of 134.40.
For anyone that might know, do you think this is back pay for a support group decision?
Clearly if it is, its a little increment on standard, money at this point is not my issue. I am close to losing everything anyway, however if it does appear to be a support group cat decision, i can tell this to my mortgage etc and that might offer some credibility to the reasons for my inability to work and make my payments at the moment.
I will of course wait for a letter and if not call next week, but just tapping into experience.
Thanks

Hi Gina,
It is so frustrating when people get these payments a few days before the letter comes!
I think it is possible that you are right that it is back pay for a support group decision, but without knowing a lot more information I would not like to commit.
Unfortunately you cannot use it as evidence of anything until you have received the letter, but that should come soon.
If you decide to ring the DWP the earlier in the day you make it the shorter the queues seem to be.
I hope this all turns out to be good news for you,
Catherine

Hello Gina,
You do not give details about what is dire, but I am assuming from your reference to your mortgage that at least some of it is debt related. Giving debt advice is beyond the scope of this forum, but there are agencies out there which can help. Please don't try and fight this one alone.
This can be a helpful link in locating someone.

Morning
Just an update, i am sorry its late.
I got my letter on Sat, and with great thanks to this resource i have been placed in the support group. This was a very bitter sweet moment for me, i am sad that i am not well but also relieved that this was the final decision.
Its taken me some time to update, as i have lots going on regarding updating creditors etc.
I think i am all upto date now, well for today anyway!
