Sacked over work injury. was created by Judy
A friend was sacked because he had an injury caused by his work, and he couldn't go back because of his injuries. He sued the company and they settled out of court for not a huge life chsnging sum and didn't admit liability. Anyway, years later he's still unable to work and lived off the money to get by. Now he has no jib and no money so can he claim PIP please. Or something else?

Hi Judy

PIP is not a means tested benefit so your friend can apply for PIP providing they have had the condition for 3 months and ongoing for 9 months: www.gov.uk/pip we do have a self test on the forum to see if they may be eligible: PIP self - test PIP self test

We cannot say which benefits your friend may be able to claim as we have no details, they could check using an on line benefit checker: gov.uk/benefits-calculators or contacting their local Welfare Rights Organisation. You can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

If you need further advice come back to the forum.

Hi Judy
If your friend has no income and is unable to work through ill health, then in addition to PIP it might be possible to claim Universal Credit (UC).
Speaking to a benefits advisor is a really good idea.
