Mandatory Reconsideration was created by Vitdee
Hi All,
I contacted the DWP requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but the paperwork I have received back, after a timely delay, from them does not state it is a MR the title reads Personal Independence Payment, I have looked at your award, first sentence is:- thank you for asking us to look at your pip again. Further on they do list my MR paperwork as being received.
I'm confused now as to whether this is an MR and they've stopped putting the heading on the letters.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Deb
I assume it is an MR, but I would ring for confirmation.

Hi Biz,
thanks for your reply.
Yes that's what I assumed too but my concern is now that for an appeal you have to send a copy that states it is a MR otherwise the tribunal reject it. Not that I'm in anyway skeptical about the DWP and their tactics (much) but could this be something they are doing so that appeals get rejected out of hand?

Hi Deb
I don't think it is a deliberate ploy, but as I said in the previous post - ring and check - then make a note of what you are told to avoid any difficulties at a later date.

Hi Deb
Mine was the same .... when you do your appeal online you just tick the yes box to “ do you have mandatory reconsideration notice “ it also asks for the date on the notice. The only thing I sent to them was photo and I uploaded and sent it online . Submitting the appeal online is very straightforward. Good Luck

So yes it is a MR, the person I spoke to said it was unusual for it not to say it was an MR, we shall see how it pans out.
