Giving the DWP Telephone numbers and why I won't. was created by ThisGovernmentsGoneToFar
Hi everyone I've been a member on here for many years now, yes I've learnt a thing or to how the DWP treat claimants, and it's not pretty.
I have for countless reasons never was, or will going to give DWP a telephone number? After reading many story's how they twist these assessments and try to deny claimants in what they deserve, whether it be be any claim of ESA,PIP, or UC. I just couldn't cope on the phone.
Touch wood I've never had any issues with any of my claims or needed a face-to-face since my first one and she even said to me it's ridiculous why you even here, she could see I was not fit for anything. I've always made a point of sending everything in even if they've already got it, just ignore what is on the forms regarding evidence still send it.
I always put on my forms "I will not have any telephone attend anymore face-to-face assessments, please contact all the Health Professionals that I've listed on these forms" they know full well I'm not fit for anything.
I never add a telephone number as I don't deal with any strangers no matter who they are, it stems from my childhood and takes me many, many months to even start to trust anyone let alone have a conversation with new people.
I'm not to far short of retirement and held some money back as I'm not going to go onto UC I just can't cope with it.
I'm on IR-ESA and full PIP which was last done on paper and didn't have to endure an assessment. My PIP is on-going till 2027 I will live on that until alone until my pension is due I just can't keep doing this form filling it's ruined my life as it has many others.
I've had enough of the DWP controlling my life, and they are certainly NOT having my telephone, or email address.
To everyone I don't want you to just follow my advice in not given the DWP your phone number it has to be your choice whether you do, or don't.

I won't give them my number either. I've just recieved a letter saying I am booked for a telephone assessment, I have no idea how they think they will carry this out!!! It's stressed me though.

Lianna, try not to worry, I know it's easy said than done. It's wise never to give numbers. They can't give you a phone assessment if you've never supplied them a phone number?
But that department will try anything.
If you've given a number in the past perhaps they will try that, if they have an old number on file, if so withhold your number and phone them you don't give out phone number to strangers etc.
Don't let them fob you off. I won't take anymore of their crap.
Let us know how you get on, wishing you well.

thanks. My doctor's letter is waiting for me to collect, hope it does the trick. I post everything recorded delivery as a couple of times they have tried to say they never recieved my letter. If I've needed to speak to them I've always withheld my number and got someone else to speak to them (as I once had someone say if I was able to engage with them on the phone I was able to work!!!!)

I have just posted on one of the Macmillan cancer forums basically advertising B&W, as a fellow member's partner had had to appeal [successfully but of course stress] to save his Motability car. I called them Dreadfully Wrong People which raised a smile.
