Hi,
I have an ongoing award for DLA- been on DLA for over a decade. The last few years rediagnosed Bipolar.
I am wanting to apply for PIP to get it over and done than waiting for the letter. Can I just phone the PIP claim line and ask to make an application?
Aware here in Scotland things for adults are moving over from the DWP- but delayed due to COVID.

Hi Charlie123
If you were 65 before 8th April 2013 - then you can't move across to PIP and will stay on DLA indefinitely.
Otherwise, you can expect to be invited to apply for PIP at some point.
You are free to ring up and apply for PIP now. Some people are reluctant to do this before they are asked, because the difference between DLA and PIP can lead them to receiving reduced awards.

I would recommend doing a SARS request.

Is there still a backlog of cases of people on DLA Indefinite awards being transferred over to PIP?

Made a request for my DLA file online from the DWP. Around 10 years since I was going through the battles I think. Tribunal -positive outcome.
