Hi AppleCharlie
I'm sorry that you did not get the outcome you were hoping for. I know you're getting help from the CAB - but don't forget to read our guide on putting for and MR.

Good luck. I anticipate the same situation post PIP telephone assessment. Worked for the DWP for a short time and saw inconsistency with these private health care assessments - if we had a panel of NHS doctors looking into PIP claims we'd have a fairer and more consistent service. Great that this site exists so we can use the resources to Appeal as I expect a smash down with the Atos HCP and DM report shortly. This has been an ongoing source of strain since January 2021, certainly has a detrimental impact on our health.

Hi Catherine,
My coming PIP review form is all been done in word.docs like 60 odd pages of it.
Does this mean that they will rip me off with scoring points for not being able to prep and cook a meal. As i cannot do this activity for many reasons of which 1 is arthritis in hands, fingers, wrists. But i can use a keyboard and mouse.
Bear in mind it will have taken me 3 months to complete my pip form questionaire (review).
Whereas prepping a meal and cooking a simple meal, would not take as long.
It seems to me a lot of these assessors love knocking up recipes ( excuse the pun) on how to kick people off their deserved benefits.
Same as I (Example) got into a car to go to an emergency a&e, therefore i score zero for planning a journey. It's a massive joke at the expense of the disabled claimant.
regards and good luck to all.

Hi AppleCharlie,
It seems that they have a problem with the evidence. Unfortunately I don't think arguing that 'because many dyspraxics have this issue, my argument is plausible' will do it for them - possibly you can talk to your GP and ask for a supporting statement? Or any other professional.
I also have dyspraxia and have the same issue as you with using knives. In my diagnostic report, it says I have an issue with MANUAL DEXTERITY. Does your's say the same thing? I am currently doing the application form and am hoping to say "because of my dyspraxia, I have poor manual dexterity, and therefore I have an issue using knives...". Not sure if that will work or if I will have the same response as you (and then need to follow my own advice haha).

I had my appointment with Citizen's Advice and she is currently drafting a letter where she is going through and disputing the medical report point by point. I could do this myself but having her look through has meant she has found things I missed including that going for my Covid jab is evidence I can cope with face to face interaction.
Regarding my Dyspraxia, Thimble_fish, I see your point of view. I'm going to roll the dice with what I have. My GP charges for such a letter and it took 3 months and an official complaint to get my medical reports in the first place. I will have a look at my report though and see what I can find out.
To be honest, even if they acknowledge my dyspraxia, it's not the reason why I will get the points in the prepping food and dressing areas. The former will be down to my fear of heat that stops me from using a conventional cooker and for dressing it'll be down to needing prompting to change out of my PJs.
Mostly, I brought it up in the letter I send to DWP disputing my report because it seemed to me a good casing point for showing that the health professional failed to understand my conditions.

Hi applecharlie
Glad to hear your CAB advisor is on the ball and finding things you might have missed. Good luck with it.
