Hi, my husband had a tribunal a few months ago and was successful but now weve recieved a letter saying his pip ends i october and 'if you still need help with daily living needs please call us. We will ask you a few questions to help with your claim'
Ive never heard of this, renewing without an assessment form and i cant find anything on google? Hes literally won his tribunal in the last 6 months..this is his second successful tribunal but im really thrown why this review is different?

Hi Donna

This is not a review. The DWP are saying that if he wants to continue with PIP, then he needs to reapply for it. before the end of October. You have said that your husband won his tribunal. In that decision was there an end date given? If there was, you need to query, why this has been sent out now, if there wasn't then your husband will have no choice but to reapply before his award ends. This is common practice (and not pleasant for the people who have to go through it.) Claimants often feel they are being punished for winning their tribunals.

Hello Donna,

I experienced something similiar with one lady, only a couple of months after the tribunal decision she received another form. I rang the DWP and asked to speak to a case manager who agreed that this was unreasonable and assured me that we did not need to complete the form and it would be at least two years before we heard from them again.

So be encouraged - it is worth asking the obvious questions of them.

Thanks, im really confused..im normally on the ball with this but ive never heard of this and what it actually means if we do phone them? Does that start a renewal? Theres also no timescale on the letter..it doesnt say phone within one month or anything so when do they expect us to cal..now or october??!?! Im gonna pull out the tribunal info and look...you'd think after being on it for 6 years and 2 successful tribunals theyd just leave him alone now!!!

Hi Donna

Unfortunately, you've no real choice but to phone to confirm what is happening. Don't ignore the letter. It has happened to others. You're right to check what is written on the tribunal decision.

Yes Donna, you would hope they'd leave him alone- but a volunteer advocate friend of mine is convinced that some bits of DWP have a vindictive streak....they dislike being 'beaten'...
