PIP AWARD was created by Tyrone
I was under the impression that I was given a 10 year award. I cannot find my notice. I rang them up and I was told it was ongoing award is there a difference.

Thanks

Hello Tyrone,

Yes there is a difference, and an ongoing one is preferable to a 10 year one. With an ongoing one, instead of a normal review after 10 years you will get what is called a 'light touch review'. The DWP have yet to decide what one of these will look like, but it is expected to be lighter and therefore less traumatic than a standard review.

Also to add Tyrone an on-going award is the highest under PIP. Re the light touch.

This is the latest from the DWP on light touch ongoing awards.

DWP Response

Following a search of our paper and electronic records, we have established that the information you requested is currently not held by this Department.

To be helpful, the light touch process has yet to be fully designed (the first ones will not be due until 2023 – 10 years after PIP was first introduced) but we would not expect it to involve a full assessment unless something has significantly changed.

The review is intended to maintain a minimum level of contact with claimants. We will continue to involve our stakeholders in designing the review process so that it adds value and best meets the needs of our claimants.

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact us quoting the reference number above.
Yours sincerely,

DWP Central Freedom of Information Team Department for Work and Pensions
