DLA to PIP AFTER STATE PENSION AGE was created by mollymarion
Would be grateful for any advice on the following. I reach state pension age at 66 years tomorrow
I have been receiving DLA for some years, higher rate mobility, middle rate care which is indefinite award
I have not yet been asked to claim for PIP the last letter I received said I did not need to do anything until I was contacted. I am am a little unclear if when I am invited to claim for PIP will I still be able to apply for the mobility component look forward to your reply thank you

Hello Mollymarion,
Happy Birthday for tomorrow, and for your gift I have some good news.
I checked this one out in the Disability Rights Handbook (our bible in all such matters) and it says 'If you get DLA and were under 65 on 8/4/13 but have since reached 65, you will be re-aseesed for PIP in the same way as other DLA claimants, including being able to claim both the daily living and mobility components.' (chapter 4 page 26)
I hope that helps you enjoy the prospect of retirement.

Just to reassure you too , I and my husband both continued on DLA until we were called for the change to pip. But goodness knows what has happened to the light touch 10 year scheme which you may cover you too . Stay safe and enjoy your retirement .
