mandatory reconsideration. was created by magpiejoe08
hello. as you know i am going to record my telephone assessment next week, though i am taking your advice and not telling the assessor. if as i expect i do not qualify, although i have the last twice, (i am a pessimist by nature) i am going to ask for a mandatory reconsideration, should i then mention that i recorded the assessment? and then if the assessor has told untruths, tell the the adjudicator, i intend to use it as evidence at a tribunal, thank you.

Hi magpiejoe08

Good luck for next week, I assume it is for PIP?

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are 9 pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.

thank you for your advice. yes it is for pip. and as stated i will not mention to assessor that i am recording the interview, if i have to make a mandatory consideration request with the dwp, would it be alright to mention that i recorded my assessment to the ajudicator, and use it in a tribunal. thanks again.

Hi Magpiejoe08

Yes, you can say at the MR stage that you have a recording. They won't take any notice of it, but yes you can get it transcribed and use it at the Appeal stage if necessary. Hopefully you won't have to use it at all. Hope your assessment goes well next week.

thank you, on my bullet list, i am concentrating on my two conditions, my walking, and the help i receive, i have my consultant mri scan reports, which i have (and i expect they will have also.) and the previous two hcp reports that i have stating my condition is unlikely to improve in the longer term, of course they were face to face assessments, i had a reminder today about my assessment, tomorrow, she was very nice, and told me the name of the lady who will be assessing me tomorrow.
