Does anyone know if there is a backlog in the ESA reassessment process ? And as a result are people being deferred ? The reason i ask is my review date is in three months time but as of yet i haven't been contacted.Thanks.

Hi Ben

We can't give you a definitive answer. Some members have rang the DWP to find out about their next assessment date. Some have been told that it will not be for at least another year, and others have been told by the call handler that there is no indication when they might be reviewed.

The DWP are dealing with a backlog, but don't publicise it. So either you just have to wait for the dreaded brown enevelope to arrive or you can call the DWP knowing that you may not get a clear answer.

Hi there,

It might sound daft, but when I've needed to know something from the DWP regarding ESA or PIP, I make use of an otherwise wasteful afternoon and phone two or three times - one after the other.

It doesn't cost anything, and you get to speak to different people and
get a better idea regarding your query.

I can usually work out roughly what the answer is although it's never a guarantee.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi Ben

I spoke to JCP last week in regards to one of my clients as they had not received UC50/WCA form. I was informed that my clients 'fit note' had run out so they needed a new one as this may affect his claim, I was also informed that there is a backlog in sending out the forms.

Hello Ben,

Having recently had my leg gently pulled by a member I am aware that this is rather a stock answer which we give - but have you tried giving them a ring? It is often the quickest way to find out what is going on and to get peace of mind.

I know they take ages to answer the phone, but unless you hit going home time, they do eventually get round to you. You just need to do something else whilst listening to their hold music in the background.
