What is the 'cut off' point for ESA assessments?

Hi there,

Just thought I'd ask: how near to state pension age will you be called for another assessment. In other words when do the DWP leave you alone, so to speak.

I have heard both 3 months before and 6 months before, but knowing the DWP I wouldn't be surprised if they called someone in to be assessed the date before they retired - or even after.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi phrank,

I am sure they do have a cut off time, but I don't know what it is. With all the current delays due to covid I would be most surprised if they do one in less than 6 months before retirement.

Perhaps someone else knows what their guidelines are on this?

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for your reply. Well I am fairly confident that I won't be called in again now, but you never know!

It would be good if someone else does have a better idea for the benefit of others in a similar predicament.

Regards,

Phrank

Hi phrank

My next ESA SG review is up in 2023

By then i'll have just 2 yrs to go til retirement. I'm hoping they will just leave me alone til then.

Seem pointless calling up almost retired disabled people with long worsening chronic illnesses, which will never get any better.

regards.
