What is a compliance letter? was created by Kummerzz
Hi members
I have received a compliance letter from DWP is this a scam?
It is a telephone appointment if I do not answer the DWP will stop my benefits but it has clashed with my diabetic eye test at the hospital.
The letter has been sent the same date as my pip telephone assessment is that a coincidence?
Thanks B.

Hello Boscozz,

Whilst any letter from the DWP can be copied and fraudulently used, the DWP do send out compliance letters and conduct telephone compliance appointments (pre covid they are face to face).

If you have concerns about whether or not yours in genuine, I would suggest that you ring the ESA department of the DWP (0800 169 0310) and ask them to confirm. At the same time you can explain that there is a clash with an essential hospital appointment and request a different time.

Most compliance people who receive compliance interviews have been selected as part of a random checking process, although they can be triggered by a report that someone is fraudulently claiming benefits.
