Hi to Everyone.

I was assessed for ESA in 2017. Since then, my health has deteriorated and I have been assesed twice for Pip, awarded the standard rate in 2018 and the enhanced rate this year (2021) I have a letter from the DWP that states my next reassessment for Esa was due in February 2021. My question is this, Will my PIP assessments be used for reassessment of my ESA or should I expect them to write to me with regards my ESA reassessment? I know due to covid there are massive backlogs in the system but wonder if anyone has a view or knowledge if Pip reassessments and outcomes are influancing ESA reassessments. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

Hi JKESX

As it stands at the moment - no your PIP assessments won't be used automatically for your ESA assessments. Although there is some overlap the criteria for each is different. People do however, some claimants do quote from their PIP assessment reports (PA4) when they are filling in a review for ESA.

Whether you are having a PIP reassessment or an ESA reassessment one won't influence the outcome of the other as far as the Health Professional (assessor) will only have access to the information of the particular benefit they are assessing. (They will be aware of what other benefits are claimed).
