Hello all,

I'm a returning member, had my second PIP review form since I was transferred over from DLA in 2016. I received it in May after it was postponed from last year. I've filled it in using my notes from last time and the guides on here. Mostly no change but I have made sure to fill in lots of additional sheets explaining why that is, my limitations, effects of my many medications, how I'm affected every day and the help I need and get from my husband.

I got a 3 month time limit to fill it in which surprised me as normally its a month. Its due back mid August. I've sent it back today via special delivery. My question is does anyone know how long approximately the wait time is to hear anything, is there a significant backlog or are things running smoothly? Thanks.

Hi killbot99

Welcome back.

I'm afraid, we can't tell you how long you might have to wait. We have heard that the DWP has had an IT problem which has caused delays at the Wolverhampton handling centre. It will depend on whether you need to have a telephone assessment and if you do the availability of assessors where you live. Some people have heard in two or three weeks and some have been waiting months. The DWP are prioritising new applications - so reviews are taking longer. If you haven't heard anything in eight weeks I would ring and ask.

I am sorry to say that i had an 8 month wait for PIP.
I have been told that my ESA will be a 2 week wait (this is following a 9 week wait from paperwork to phone assessment) and yet that is still a decision made by the DWP - so i guess its a sit tight and wait game. Good luck x

HI killbot,

If it's any help, I am into my 11th week and all I know is it's still with the assessment provider. Mine's a review not a new applictation.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi
I got a paper based review in 2018 so I'm hoping I'm lucky this time around though, but who knows. I sometimes think they just pull names out of a hat for assessments. I wondered if there was a backlog and your reply and others that I have seen indicate there might be. On the other hand I'm not in any hurry to hear potentially bad news anyway.

Hi killbot99

It can at times seem like a roulette wheel. You are correct that there is a backlog caused by computer issues, if you have signed up to our free news letter you may have seen a few articles on this subject, the latest one informs 10% of last years reviews were still waiting to be processed, at present they are concentrating on new claims and extending reviews.

Let us know when you have any news.
