Hi so after a long wait re beeing put on work related groups i got a assesment date which i had to cancel due to them sending me for a face to face appointment which for medical reasons i am unable to attend so that was cancelled and i send a doctors letter explaining why i couldng go .so they have refused a phone call or home visit i got another letter from the doctor and sent that via email they havnt received this yet and appointment isnon monday 2nd August and i will not be able to go due to medical reasons i cant cancel again what will happen now and will i loose any benefits please help really worried?

Hi Foz

I'm sorry you have found yourself in this position. Have you asked them to do a paper-based assessment? If you don't go to the assessment on the 2nd August there is a good chance you will lose your benefit as it will be deemed you didn't take part in the process.

1. Ring IAS and ask to speak to a more senior manager and see if you can get them to change their mind.
2. Ring your MP urgently and see if they will get involved.
3. Ring the DWP and ask for a case manager to ring you back and explain the situation.

I can't say who might be helpful, because it can be very hit and miss, but if you don't want to run the risk of losing your benefit you (or a relative or friend) need to act very quickly.
