Pip to Attendance Allowance was created by weymouth321
When reaching state pension age ( when I’m 66 in approximately 18 months time )
Does DWP automatically transfer us onto Attendance Allowance ?
Have rheumatoid arthritis and currently claiming Pip standard rate , £60.00 weekly , no current award for mobility
With Many Thanks , Josie

Hello Josie,

Since you are already in receipt of PIP this will continue indefinitely provided that you continue to meet the requirements.

If the effect of your condition increases you will be able to request a review and may possibly get enhanced daily living. Unfortunately if you are not in receipt of mobility when you reach pension age you will not be able to claim for that part of PIP in the future.

Hi Josie, why not give it a go now and put in for change of circumstances, if your mobility IS bad now, to see if you can get at least Standard Mob. before it is too late ie you reach pension age?
Best wishes,
Denby

Just read your message Denby , thank you , this is very encouraging , the CAB lady was thoroughly brilliant when my pip 2 came along to renew 2 years ago , spending 3 hours thoroughly going through each question , So ( got 11 points for standard care element , nothing for mobility ) Due to the Coronavirus it’s been extended to 2023 . Mobility wise I find I’m pushing myself to get any shopping done quickly to get back home to lie down ( don’t relish using a wheelchair ) With Many Thanks , Josie

Hi josie

No, PIP does not end at retirement age.

Claimants who were already entitled to PIP when they reached state pension age continue to get it. This includes where you were refused an award of PIP and are awarded it at either the reconsideration or tribunal appeal stages, because that decision maker or tribunal will have decided that you were entitled to the benefit before you reached state pension age.
