Hi Josie. If you put in a change of circumstances remember to put in resting/ recovery time/ breathlessness/ pain etc. ALSO Majority of the time criteria is very important/ and repeatedly.
If you can go round town for a few hours but need a day in bed after/ followed by a day on the sofa etc to recover. It is all relevant x
Also apply for a bus pass and a blue badge. Any medical evidence used to apply for these can back up your claim. And also may indicate what a likely result will be :-)

Thank you Gary ,

I was awarded Standard Care Rate September 2019 for 2 years ( didn’t need to apply for reconsideration or appeal at that time , thankfully ) £60.00 weekly

Apologies , I scored 9 points for Daily Living
0 for mobility

Then due to Coronavirus received DWP letter saying this shall be extended until April 2023

With Kind Regards ,

Josie

Josie you're most welcome. We are similar ages it would seem. I am mulling over putting in for PIP mobility as I have painful osteoarthritis in my knees now. The only thing I would say is, you were fortunate getting help from CAB pre-covid. However the advice is always only as good as the volunteer and the training they have had.
So if you can manage to, I would study the guides here thoroughly yourself, and see what you think you should be entitled to. Yes be critical but remember the - safely, repeatedly, to a good standard, and in no more than twice a 'normal' time - criteria which are all detailed in the guides. I do say all this because I do wonder with rheumatoid arthritis whether you should actually have got standard mobility last time if your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms had been written up better in your form two years ago. Unless it has come on from nothing since then???
Best wishes and the forum is here for any queries you have,
Denby

Afternoon Denby ,

Thank you for advising me to apply for a Disability Bus Pass with our local council , I submitted the application form to my gp surgery last Monday , it’s a 15 day turnaround
I added the pain , stiffness and numbness of my feet
Looking at the nhs website , last night , very much looks like Peripheral Neuropathy as many months been unable to feel temperature of bath water
Further , I dug out my previous pip 2 claim and on reading through it , the physio failed to document how I had to lie down on the couch throughout the assessment - yes , I should of appealed at the time . Shall certainly do so in future

Hello Denby ,

Yes , my Disability Bus Pass has been turned down by our local council , despite my GP letter of support
The reasons given were description and time it takes me to walk + any other additional health conditions
The council hardly gave my application any substantial consideration before a “ Sharon “ replied almost immediately today ( our gp medical practice require a £25 fee and a 15 day turnaround )
So is there such a local council appeal process or shall I be required to return to the gp , asking for more descriptive detail content ?
Many Thanks , Josie

Hi weymouth321

I have had a look on Google mail to see what the criteria was to get a disabled bus pass. In West Yorkshire the following applies:

To be eligible for a Disabled Person’s Pass and are in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Higher rate care disability living allowance
- Higher rate attendance allowance
- PIP - enhanced rate daily living
- PIP – at least 10 points on the ‘Planning and following a journey’ activity
You need to be awarded these benefits for at least 12 months and you need to provide a copy of your full benefits award letter as proof.

Other local authorities may have different criteria: www.gov.uk/apply-for-disabled-bus-pass

In England you can get a bus pass for free travel when you reach the State Pension age. www.gov.uk/apply-for-elderly-person-bus-pass
