PIP eligibility?

PIP eligibility? was created by Faith
Sorry if this is a stupid question but...
If someone is entitled to have a carer, through Social Services, for help with preparing food, washing, dressing, etc, but they refuse to have a carer, because of mental health problems which make them distressed by the presence of other people, are they still eligible for PIP, even though they refuse the help they need?
Again, apologies if this is a dumb question.

Hi Faith

There is no such thing as a stupid question. If you don't know, you don't know.

Claimants get awarded PIP when they meet the criteria for daily living and mobility. There are plenty of claimants who are unable to access support because of mental health difficulties. I have a close relative with such difficulties and they were still awarded enhanced PIP on an ongoing basis. The form asks claimants to describe what support they need regardless of whether they actually get it. So no claimant should be penalised for not being able to access what might be available.

I would include any social services correspondence if there is any.
