PIP Review Gone from Enhanced to Standard was created by b9
Hi All
I had a PIP phone review as my award of 5 years from 2016 was up. They did auto extend until 12/21 but then sent the review form quickly after.
Not sure what to do, as good news is that its been re awarded until 2024 but they dropped the enhanced daily living down to standard. The attached report is complete nonsense and half of the things they said are just lies...
Cant face the stress of dealing with it again as its been the whole year waiting...whats the thoughts on mandatory reconsideration?? Can it go down again?
I suffer from really bad anxiety depression and have a cancer diagnosis..so really cant face a load more stress
I did record them but didnt ask them to record as was all too stressful
Losing 120 per month though is an issue.
Thanks for your help

Hi b9
So sorry that your award has been knocked down.
On only two occasions have I heard someone's award being knocked down when they have put in for a mandatory reconsideration. The majority of mandatory reconsiderations fail, but 35% are successful and I'm sure all the people who succeed will say it's well worth it.
I understand that you don't want even more stress and only you can decide whether your health is up to writing in for the MR. Do look at our guide on how to approach it.

Hi. Presumably you will get ‘standard’ while you await the MR. Ask them to CLEARLY state when and how THEY think your condition has improved. The onus is on them to prove this if they are reducing your award and you can prove you have remained stable or gotten worse.
Your call obviously. It is horrible and stressful, but so is losing money
I think it highly unlikely they would reduce you further, especially if your last award was 5 years. As this ‘new’ one is only for 3 maybe they think you are getting better??? If you do do an MR, focus on longevity & prognosis of your conditions/ functional restrictions.

Dear Faith, there is a possible alternative to stressful doing-it-yourself, which was recommended by a forum member some time back,
Here is the link/basic info:
disabilityrights.org.uk
"Kester Disability Rights is a mixture of free and fee-paying services to fill gaps caused by Government cuts. It is not-for-profit with all money raised from cases being reinvested to maintain and grow services. All resources and advice and information are free."
A knowledgeable friend of mine spoke to the director and confirms it is a genuine organisation too. In short it is no-win no-fee, the fee is 25% of any arrears won, so you stand to gain a lot. If they take it on and win you get all your increased PIP going forward.
Best wishes whatever you decide to do, but please do try not to let DWP get away with their nasty, nasty tricks!

Hi Faith,
In addition to the service that Denby recommends, law centres and advice organisations often offer free appeals advice. Perhaps there is a centre near you?
Have a look here.

I have had the exact same thing happen to me, awarded longer but downgraded to standard living. Looks like this may be a ploy to sort out the "weaker" ones, one's who are too ill or too stressed to carry on and are just grateful they've got an extra whoopi doo year. I'm fighting them through MR then Tribunal if need be. I'm damned if they're going to fob me off like this!
I also asked them how and where did the DWP think I had improved?
They took absolutely no notice of any awards given to me from the Tribunal judge 3 years ago, but they did use the points from that years PA4 (my last PIP) where they had downgraded me and prompted me to take them to tribunal. In the DM's decision the tribunal overturn of their points was completely ignored, it's like it had never existed, I had to keep drawing their attention back to it. Took ten pages to do. Try not to give up xxxxxxxx
