PIP Assessment Guide was created by Steve
Is anyone able to answer and confirm whether 'The Assessment Criteria' has been amended for new and existing claimants. I have found details online via gov.uk dated 17 May 2021 suggesting it has. I am already in an ongoing appeal process and it may explain some confusing, conflicting and despicable responses. I have an appointment with Citizens Advice soon and it would be helpful to learn this in advance. I am really in despair and disheartened with the whole process and treatment from the DWP it's contractors and so called Healthcare Professionals for myself and many many thousands suffering.
If indeed any change has been passed in motion through the House of Commons it has gone unnoticed by myself and possibly to many other claimants. This would have a major bearing on my personal claim due to the date timeline of the form, the telephone assessment, the report, the Mandatory Reconsideration and my current decline of any award.
To go from a previous Enhanced award to then 5 & 4 points and Zero award when my conditions have declined really has me at a major loss mentally and financially. I will not need to describe the anxiety, stress and hardship this causes when so many of you understand exactly that.
Kindest Regards to anyone able to help and all that to choose to read, Steve

Hi Steve

Have a look at our guides as they are kept up to date.

A new pip claims form has been released, although the layout looks different the questions are overall the same. The back office are going through our guides to bring them up to date in line with the new form.

Thank you for your response Gary. My wife and myself had to take a brief step back from this latest DWP decision as it is mentally and emotionally overwhelming the majority of times. We will continue to look through your content for help as always. Kindest Regards, Steve

Hello Steve,

I am sorry to hear that the process has been so bad for you both. When I am not able to personally support someone through the journey, I always recommend that they try to find a PIP 'buiddy'. That is someone who they can trust with all the personal details which have to be revealed, but is one step emotionally removed from the process. Their role includes checking your paperwork, motivating you to keep deadlines, but most importantly reminding you that all the negative stuff that you have to put on the forms is just the bit about the problems you have in life. It is not who you, or your wife, are. You are a very different person who is not reflected on that form, full of things you can do and things you contribute to other people's lives.

Dear Steve, just sending you sympathy and goodwill in your struggle. As Catherine says, do find some support if you can. Law centres, trade unions and in some areas Citizens' Advice or churches etc are all worth checking if you do not have a suitably literate friend or neighbour etc. And worth contacting your MP. As they get money for office staff, the office staff might help. At least you would be leaving them in no doubt of how awful the 'system' is.
Best wishes,
Denby

Hi Steve

Just to carry on from denby's post, you can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies.
