I'm missing certain diagnoses. Should I mention it

As the title reads I'm missing diagnoses for certain conditions I'm writing about and I'm wondering if I should write an explanation for why that is or to not make a note of it at all?

For example I have OCD and an eating disorder but don't have a diagnosis for either because I've never really been under any proper mental health care. I've only ever been under the care of the local crisis team on/off but they always told me diagnoses didn't matter in terms of my benefits as there are other mental health conditions I have an a actual diagnosis for, and that should be enough to qualify me.

I only ask because I can always say I suffer from X, Y and Z but if I don't have the paper trail to support me they only have my word to go off of, which as we know they don't always give precedence to.

Hello Mystery,

There is now doubt that a formal diagnosis is more helpful than an informal one or self-diagnosis, however if the crisis team have informally acknowledged that you have a certain condition I would say that, and include what you have said in the middle paragraph of your post. In my opinion that is better than simply not referring to the condition at all.

I always encourage people to put everything relevant, even if you don’t need to, because it paints the fuller picture.

Morning. I would contact your Crisis Centre and ask if they have a list of the times you contacted them. This will prove you HAVE had help.
“Mystery has accessed our Crisis Centre services between 2019 and 2021”, or some-such. They will know, and be happy to help I am sure.
Regarding the diagnoses, I would just state what you have put here. “I have the symptoms of X,Y & Z and have had for ——- amount of time. I do not have formal diagnoses of these as I have difficulties engaging with medical services, such as a GP due to my MH condition(s)”.
