Hi, well have had phone assessment for pip review and initially felt quietly positive, the assessor seemed to have a pretty good knowledge and understanding of Parkinson’s disease. Then on reflection….just also to add I am a massive overthinker……early on in the phone call I was asked how far I could walk outdoors and how long would that take me and what symptoms would I experience, then later on she asked about shopping, we pointed out that now we go together as I need assistance, a driver home and general help with lifting and carrying. Then I was asked how big the supermarket was and how long would we be in there? Now I can’t help thinking the question was trying to catch me out. As I said I can overthink things x

Hi Bridget
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, what you now need to do is contact DWP after 48 hours and ask for a copy of the assessors report.
There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker if there are errors in the report but you will need to be quick. You will need to see a copy of the assessors report called a PA4.
Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.
Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.
Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;
Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.
When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Yes I have it thank you and I did call them straight away but on receiving my decision yesterday they have gone with the assessor. I have typed up all the points I want to make so it just needed a little extra yesterday ready for the MR. I'm amazed at how despite everything I told the assessor she has they just pretty much ignored me and made her own decisions.
