PIP2 Review pack was created by Patricia
Hi Everyone , It’s really just to ask about PIP2 review form my husband received just over a week ago.Due to the pandemic they extended his award for a further 6months so instead of his review being in September this year.
I spoke to a member of the DWP to ask about the above extended time given and if my husband had still to carry on with the form , I also said he is awaiting on notice to go into hospital for two operations.
Due to the pandemic his operation for a reversal for his stoma had be cancelled 4 times , but this was done by telephone , he is now on a waiting list for god knows how long.
But the response from the DWP was they don’t ask for medical evidence as that’s my husband’s responsibility.
This I thought was an incredible response since they ask you to provide any specialist who may support your conditions.
Any advice would be appreciated many thanks

Hello Patricia and welcome to the forum.

I would think that the review form you have just received is for the review due to happen at the end of the extended period, not the original end date of September. If they were going to do one then, you would have received the paper work months ago. So yes, he still does need to do it.

If he is too unwell to this, then you can become his appointee (ask us for details if you want to know more about that) so that you can do it for him.

As for medical evidence, you are right, it is a most unhelpful response. They do not ask for it, but if you don't give it, then you less likely to get the correct award. *head banging time*

Catherine: I too have had my review form a couple of days ago which sent me into great shock as it seems it is based on my original review month which is November of this year. I had mine extended to July 2022. I wondered if it was a mistake and if I should phone them up (I did try but gave up after being on hold for 20 minutes). Then a friend told me that even with an extended review they can call you at any time. Surely though if they have given an extension, they should at least say something along the lines of:"We know we said you had an extension until July 2022; but we are getting through the backlog quicker than we thought and have brought your review back to when it was supposed to be?"

Many thanks for your help as this is a very worrying stressful. time for me.

Hello Capyboppy,

Thank you for that, it is good to know what is happening. The rule of thumb seems to be that they send out the review papers 6 months before the end date, but that does not make sense since it is only 2-3 months until November but 11 months until July. I agree - stressful! I agree with you - some clearer communication and clarity would help.

I reckon it taking an hour to get through on the PIP helpline, although sometimes I have a nice surprise, and it only takes half of that. I always make sure I have something else to do whilst the music is playing and then I don't get so frustrated. A number of members have said if you ring first thing in the morning you generally get through quicker.

Thank you Catherine. I think to make sure I will do that and try and get through first thing. The first 5 minutes is enough to put people off with all the verifying questions first! I'll let you know what is said.

Hi again Catherine and all.

I decided to phone the help line and found out that the 6 month extension is to allow for the backlog going on for months to ensure you still get your PIP while waiting. This doesn't make much sense though as surely once you have been notified for your review, then your PIP money would be paid each month until your had a decision anyway? Or am I missing something here?
