Nothing like an unexpected call from the DWP to fuel anxiety!

I can quickly think of a number of possible ‘innocent’ reasons for the call. It is up to you if you answer if they ring again, you are under no obligation to take calls from them, unless it is a pre-arranged assessment appointment. (With those, they are they obliged to try to get through to you three times before giving up.)

If they do ring again, and they are offering you an instant assessment, unless this is what you want, you can just tell them it is not possible for you to do it then since you have other commitments / family visiting etc (just make sure that you don’t say that you about to do something which you have said on your form that you cannot do!)

The practice of offering you a recording seems to vary across the devolved regions. A member in NI recently posted that they had been offered a recording, whilst one in England said that they were refused one even with an advanced request. To finish, in my experience, most unexpected calls from the DWP (as opposed to assessment agencies) are either neutral or good. So I am hoping yours was one of those.

You could be right denby, but I would expect that to be the assessment agency making the call, not the DWP.
