Hi
Does anybody know if the £143 you can earn while doing permitted work while on NSESA is after pension contributions?
Thank you

Hi Rosebud

It states in the guides 'If your earnings are no higher than £143 limit, your ESA will not be affected.

I would therefore assume its before pension contributions.

Hi Rosebud,

I would assume that as the maximum added income you can earn under permitted work rules is £143.00 then this would be for any income including pension.

Hi Rosebud. I was on ‘old’ ESA (IR) when I did permitted work. Tax, NI and Pensions are NOT included in the amount. I just used to send them my P60 every year when they wanted an ‘earnings check’. You would have to earn UNDER £7436 per annum using the £143 per week criteria. Hope this helps x
