PIP was created by richmond
Hi can you please advise on what I should expect, I have filled in the pip 2 form and sent in a massive amount of old and new evidence especially as I attend 5 different hospitals so lots of reports, after I have checked in with the DWP to get updates as the anxiety is killing me I was told I would have a telephone assessment and to expect a letter.
any advice on what to expect would be helpful please.
Many thanks

Hello Sam, I am afraid my answer feels somewhat unsatisfactory. What you can initially expect is a long wait, quite a few months, without hearing anything from them.

What is happening during this time should be that someone will look at your claim and decide whether or not it needs a telephone assessment or whether it can be a paper based one. It is nearly always a telephone assessment. It then goes to the assessment agency and waits in a long queue. You will eventually be contacted with a date for your telephone assessment which should give you at least a week’s notice. This contact is sometimes by phone and sometimes by letter, I have yet to work out why there is a variation.

I hope that helps
Catherine

Hi Sam,

I don't want to put a damper on things, but it has now entered the sixteenth week since my form, together with full review package, squeezed itself firmly to the bottom of the massive ATOS to-do pile.

I was getting impatitient after a few weeks, but on reflection now it really is a long distance run and definitely not a short sprint and I still am not expecting to hear anything in the near future.

Sorry to be negative, but that's my story to date.

Perhaps you may be luckier, I suppose where you live could be a factor.

Good luck and regards,

Phrank.

Hi sam. besides all Catherine's good sense, may I suggest that assuming they decide to do a phone assessment on you, as soon as you hear, you contact them . Tell them you would like the assessment recorded. This may throw them into a wobble and so cause a further delay, as most of the assessors refuse to take part in recordings. Now ask yourself how happy you would be to get assessed by someone who refuses to be literally on the record. What are they hiding?? If they do a recording you may well be extremely glad of the evidence it provides, down the line. otherwise it's a case of "he said she said". It has rescued our daughter from a low award twice running having the recording to disprove lies [eg "she was not distressed" when you could hear her crying in three places on the tape.
Very best wishes,
Denby

Thanks Sam, mercifully last time when she got a text for a phone assessment during covid when we could not be with her, and so melted down, I was able to get it switched to paper based by persistence on the phone. Then got the report, which was the usual deceptive etc etc. And thanks to seeing on here that you could contest an assessment report, did so, and they gave her back her enhanced x2, no MR and NO appeal, thank God. Next time around if they do not give her longer I just might appeal the length, even if she gets top rates again, as I have, again, read on here you can do so. But for now all is well many thanks. That's why I sit on here trying to pay it forward.
best ,
Denby
