Backdated PIP due to extension during lockdown?

Hi,

I have a quick question to ask, my PIP was due to be reviewed before June this year, it was extended for 12 months due to the lockdown. I have now sent in my review form, along with medical literature etc, which show a change in my condition.

Once everything is processed and the award decision has been made, if it changes my pip award will that then be backdated to the original June date as my conditions progressed before that time and would have been reported then and not 6 or maybe 9 months later due to the mandatory extension on my previous award?

Thanks

Hi MAC

It will only be backdated to the point of which you reported it - because even though you were offered an extension, there was nothing to stop you from putting in for a change of circumstances, which would have triggered a review. The review would probably not have happened any earlier, but they would have received notice of when the deterioration took place.
