I'm afraid it is correct. I argued it out with them in my LA (Trafford) as it was only 6 months. I asked if I had to pay the £10 again if successful and they said yes. Despite saying it seemed unfair as others would have a longer period, they were adamant those are the rules.
I also have my disabled travel pass up for renewal next month. When I rang them about 3 months ago, they said they were doing it month by month according to 'how things go' with Covid and the Government. Rather vague I know. So on Monday I will be phoning them to see what the situation is.

Hi Capyboppy
As I stated previously, you do not need to be in receipt of PIP mobility to be awarded the blue badge, although it does help, see the following link: www.gov.uk/government/publications/blue-...n-i-get-a-blue-badge
You will need support from your doctor/consultant.

Hi,
This was on my local council website so i assuming it is the same for all, gary is right you don't need to be in reciept of PIP for a blue badge but you would need to apply under a different category. So it looks like you have the choice when applying.
"your award letter if you are applying under any of the automatic eligibility criteria (to apply under Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP), this must be no more than 12 months old). If any awards have been issued to a date less than 3 years in the future, your Blue Badge will expire on the same date as the award. If this is the case, you may wish to apply under a different category."

Hi,
I know personally cancer patients, who are on attendance allowance, and get the blue badge. They do not claim PIP.

I was on my 3rd Blue Badge before I claimed PIP and initially got refused mobility. This was changed after I appealed but before the Tribunal.

Hi Gary.
Yes, I was aware of this as my first blue badge was done through my Doctor before I received DLA. I mentioned what I did as the original poster came across as wanting to renew it as a straightforward renewal based on his higher mobility award. I know in our borough, those who are doing it through alternative means such as through your GP which can also mean an independent medical assessor arrange by the council, it does take a lot longer. I know this as when I received my 6 month one (based on the July extension I was given), I mentioned how. quick it was from doing the online renewal to receiving it. I said it said to allow up to 3 months. The lady said it was quick for me because I had the higher mobility rate of PIP. Should I have been on the lower rate or wanting to be assessed independently, it was around a 3 month wait. Therefore if the original poster went that route his blue badge would have run out; that is of course if it is a similar scenario in their area. I know they are all different.
