Blue badge renewal and PIP review date was created by Tess2012
Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I’m not great with understanding how to post in the forum so please bear with me.
I am on the highest mobility level of PIP therefore automatically qualify for a blue badge and have had one for the last 3 years. I received a reminder to apply for new badge as current one expires in October this year 2021)
I sent in my documentation requested including a letter from PIP to say that due to pandemic my review date had been moved to April 2023. I received my new badge , for which I have paid the full fee of £10, but it is only valid for 18 months rather than 3 years. I have been told that this is based on my PIP award being due for review in April 2023...what do they think is going to happen...??? That I will be biblically become cured on my review date and no longer need the badge?
They said I can reapply in April 2023 but this will incur the £10 fee again. Surely this can’t be right?
Any advice greatly appreciated
Thanks
Tess

Hi Tess
I'm sorry, but this is outside the scope of the forum and it's an argument you will have to try and have with the council. I suspect there is little that will be done about it, as your eligibility for a blue badge is tied to your PIP claim and they have the right to issue it for 18 months only. It seems unfair, yes, but they make the rules.

Hi Tess
You may want to make a formal complaint to your local authority about the length of the award, you don't need to be in receipt of PIP to be awarded a blue badge. www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-...efused-a-blue-badge/
If you are unhappy with the reply from your local authority then the next stage would be to make a complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman www.lgo.org.uk

Hi Tess,
They pulled that stroke on me too. It's a farce, so now the county councils can somehow see into the future ( our health future's lol) ffs it's unbelievable.
Regards.
